Buttery and crisp, the fuyu persimmon (fuyu gaki) is a popular fruit in Japan that hearkens the fall and colder winter months to come. They can be enjoyed while crisp or ripened until they soften like butter, when its taste becomes reminiscent of pears and brown sugar.
